1. Stay on top of developments in the international food and agriculture landscape, covering topics such as international trade and food and agriculture policy, and compile the latest news and research findings.

2. Collect, read, and adapt English-language materials—including academic papers, media coverage, policy documents, and industry reports—to support the editorial team in organising content and distilling key information.

3. Participate in topic planning for Foodthink’s international coverage, assisting the editorial team with article adaptation, background research compilation, and in-depth content support.

4. Support the editorial team with pre-interview research, fact-checking, and information gathering as required.

1. Strong English reading ability, with the capacity to independently read English-language media coverage, academic papers, and policy documents, and accurately distil the key information.

2. Solid Chinese writing or translation skills, with the ability to turn specialist reports into articles that are accessible to general readers.

3. Strong research and information-gathering skills, with the ability to use AI tools to work efficiently while understanding their limitations and guarding against AI-generated errors.

4. A genuine interest in topics such as food, agriculture, the environment, labour, trade, and public policy, with a willingness to follow these issues over the long term and develop a deep understanding.

5. Strong learning and comprehension skills, with an awareness of both international topics and local conditions, a sensitivity to domestic–international dynamics, and a desire to understand how global changes affect specific people, land, and production.

2. Participate in topic planning for Foodthink’s small- and medium-scale research projects, and assist the research team in completing preliminary desk research.

1. Participate in the daily operations of Foodthink’s WeChat Channels account, handling the full production workflow including video editing, thumbnail design, and copywriting.

2. Participate in planning short-form video content for Foodthink, identifying and producing content well suited to the short-form format from events, interviews, day-to-day newsroom life, and the topics Foodthink covers.

3. Depending on project requirements, assist in filming, editing, post-production, and distribution of related content.

1. Understanding of the rules and mechanics of video platforms such as WeChat Channels, Douyin, and Bilibili, with a solid grasp of short-form video distribution patterns and a decent intuitive feel for what works online; able to spot trending topics and produce content that fits the account’s tone.

2. Proficiency in tools such as CapCut, Photoshop, Premiere, and Final Cut, with a good understanding of short-form video packaging logic—subtitles, thumbnails, titles, and the like; comfortable using AI tools, with filming skills a bonus.

3. An interest in the food and agriculture, environmental, and labour topics that Foodthink covers.

4. A degree of information sensitivity—the ability to distil compelling short-form video angles from long interviews or complex content.

5. Detail-oriented, diligent, patient, and responsible, with the ability to deliver work on time.

6. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in video editing or account management, or relevant portfolios and internships.

1. Sustained interest in topics such as food, agriculture, rural issues, the environment, labour, and climate change, or relevant study, writing, or practical experience.

2. Experience filming and editing content such as interviews, documentaries, vlogs, and event coverage. Basic filming skills a bonus.

3. Experience running a personal short-form video account or contributing to the management of an institutional account.

4. Ability to use AI tools to assist with editing, copywriting, subtitle generation, or content planning.

5. Currently studying a relevant discipline such as journalism, communications, advertising, photography, film, Chinese, agriculture, environmental studies, sociology, or anthropology.
