New Year Prize Survey | 100+ events, 25 books: Have you learned how to eat well?
Happy New Year to all our readers!
Over the last five years, Foodthink has published 486 original articles exploring a broad spectrum of topics within the realms of food and agriculture. Our work has bridged the gap between city and countryside and broken down disciplinary silos, encompassing nearly 20 key themes, including agri-food policy, rural development, organic farming, cooperative economics, food safety, nutrition and health, and dietary culture.
We have also organised over 60 sharing sessions and 70 reading group discussions, alongside film screenings, workshops, courses, and farmers’ gatherings, reading a total of 25 books and connecting with over 100 guests. We have sought out front-line ecological farmers, academic researchers, members of NGOs and social organisations, and everyday consumers—bringing them together to share stories and discoveries from the field, study texts collectively, or track the latest research and documentation.
Our online community brings together participants from all our past events. Alongside lively discussions, members share local delicacies and offer one another encouragement; when they have the chance to meet in person, they work in the fields together, cook, and exchange seeds and books.
In 2022, for reasons well known to all, opportunities to hold in-person events were severely limited. Consequently, most of Foodthink’s activities shifted online; in addition to Tencent Meeting, we introduced WeChat Channels live streaming to make booking and viewing more accessible. All events were recorded and uploaded to Foodthink’s Bilibili account for those wishing to watch them back.

For every event, we dedicate a great deal of time to preparation, doing our utmost to ensure the best possible choice of books, topics, and guest speakers. However, our resources, time, and energy are finite, and we have yet to gather feedback from our participants.
If you have taken part in any of our events, we would be grateful if you could spare a few moments to complete the survey below, helping us to improve the quality and overall experience of our activities.

We will also select five of the most constructive responses to receive a small prize: a set of tableware from Douban’s Nature Series.

Let us continue to eat well in the new year! We invite you to join the ongoing Beijing Harvest Festival series as we welcome 2023.

About the Beijing Harvest Celebration
In 2022, we hoped to join forces with more partners in Beijing to co-create the Beijing Harvest Celebration through cross-sector collaboration, showcasing the diverse beauty of life, production, and existence—such as foods grown using different farming methods, the rich array of heirloom crop varieties and the stories behind them, and a wide variety of lifestyle choices…
While various circumstances meant that this year’s in-person events could not go ahead, we have coordinated with several partners and organisations to hold a series of online events centered on diversity and sustainable living from 22nd December to 15th January.
Follow the Foodthink official account for the latest event news! We hope the “Harvest Celebration” serves as a place for those who value “diversity” to meet, connect, and eventually take action together.
